It offers SmartVest airway clearance system and related products, which generate high frequency chest wall oscillation that facilitates airway clearance by loosening and mobilizing respiratory secretions in a patient’s lungs. The company markets its SmartVest System to patients suffering from cystic fibrosis; bronchiectasis; repeated episodes of pneumonia; neuromuscular disorders, such as cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophies, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis; chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; and duchenne and becker muscular dystrophy, as well as to patients with post-surgical complications or ventilator dependent or other conditions involved in excess secretion and impaired mucus transport. It also provides single patient use SmartVest and SmartVest Wrap products for health care providers working in intensive care units. The company markets its products primarily to the home health care and institutional markets through a network of direct sales representatives and independent distributors for use by patients in personal residences, hospitals, clinics, and pulmonary rehabilitation centers. Electromed, Inc. was founded in 1992 and is headquartered in New Prague, Minnesota.
