Pervasive Software and TC3 Team to Apply the Powerful Pervasive DataRush Engine to Healthcare Claims Analytics Process Tuesday November 18, 8:00 am ET AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Pervasive
Software® Inc. (NASDAQ: PVSW - News), a global value leader in embeddable
data management and data
integration software, today announced the combined power and
capabilities of Pervasive
DataRush, Pervasive Data Profiler and Pervasive
Data Integrator are delivering lightning-fast claims
data preprocessing for TC3 Health. TC3 Health (Total Claims Capture
& Control) provides health care payers and third party administrators
with a total claims management solution that seamlessly and
electronically integrates internal claim management systems with
external loss control programs.
Historically, TC3 analyzed sets of up to a million healthcare claims. Customers were impressed with the savings generated by TC3's innovative TruClaim payment integrity application, which analyzed the claims and identified a variety of billing issues. Based on the success of the program, customers asked TC3 to apply its analysis to larger sets of historical claims – resulting in files containing tens of millions of claims. However, there was a catch: TC3 estimated preprocessing on files of that magnitude would take as long as 26 days. TC3 turned to Pervasive DataRush. The Pervasive DataRush engine uses a parallel dataflow-based architecture to exploit pipelining, vertical partitioning and horizontal partitioning to rapidly crunch through massive datasets on off-the-shelf multicore servers. For the TC3 preprocessing application, Pervasive DataRush is invoked from a process orchestrated in Pervasive Data Integrator, and its throughput capability allows it to chew through 250 million claims in less than one day, rather than 26 days. The new preprocessing system takes advantage of the Pervasive DataRush engine's ability to scale across all cores available, in this case executing on an AMD Barcelona 16-core 64-bit server containing four quad-core processors and running Windows Server 2008. TC3 also plans to use the Pervasive DataRush abstraction layer to segregate patient-specific information to ensure HIPAA compliance prior to processing it on a third-party hosted application. "We're excited about the opportunity to expand the power of TruClaim analytics from monthly slices to years of historical claims data, dramatically expanding the ability to detect fraud or claims mismanagement and save our customers and taxpayers significant costs," said Paul Horvath, TC3 chief technology officer. "With the colossal power of the Pervasive DataRush engine and the automated Pervasive Data Integrator process, claims data is automatically retrieved, decrypted, transformed to standardized formats, and aggregated for processing by TruClaim. We then run it through Pervasive Data Profiler to assess data quality before loading TruClaim. With this incredibly fast automated preprocessing, TC3 is poised to expand our addressable market and tackle even the largest data challenges our customers throw at us – at speeds 30x faster than we could formerly deliver." "It's exciting to put the innovative power of Pervasive DataRush to work cracking monumental data challenges for innovative companies like TC3," said Mike Hoskins, Pervasive CTO and general manager, Integration Products for Pervasive. "The complementary capabilities of Pervasive Data Integrator, Pervasive DataRush and Pervasive Data Profiler yield exciting, fully automated and highly scalable solutions to help today's customers drive success in tomorrow's markets."
